Healing To You’s Mobile Healthcare Program was created to bring healthcare directly into communities where access to care is often limited or difficult to reach. Our mobile clinics serve children, adults, and families impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, trauma, housing instability, and other barriers to healthcare access across Los Angeles and Orange counties.

The program partners with domestic violence shelters, rape crisis centers, organizations serving unhoused youth, community agencies, and underserved neighborhoods to provide integrated medical and mental health services in safer, more accessible community-based settings. Services may include primary medical care, mental health support, preventive health screenings, immunizations, advocacy, care coordination, and health education.

Our goal is to reduce barriers to care while helping individuals and families access compassionate healthcare, support, and healing within their own communities.

Agencies and community partners interested in mobile clinic services, collaborative partnerships, or deployment opportunities are encouraged to contact Healing To You to discuss program availability, services, and associated costs.

Healing To You is committed to expanding community awareness, education, and access to supportive services for individuals and families impacted by violence and trauma. Our Mobile Healthcare Program participates in health fairs, community events, outreach activities, and collaborative partnerships across Los Angeles and Orange counties to increase access to medical care, mental health services, prevention education, and community resources.

Healing To You also provides two fully virtual 40-hour training programs: Sexual Assault Advocate Training and Domestic Violence Counselor Training. These programs are designed for healthcare professionals and community members seeking specialized training in victim advocacy, trauma-informed support, crisis response, and survivor-centered services.

The Domestic Violence Counselor Training meets the 40-hour training requirements outlined under California Evidence Code §1037.1, and the Sexual Assault Advocate Training meets the 40-hour training requirements under California Evidence Code §1035.2.

Participants who successfully complete the trainings receive a certificate of completion and may use the training toward employment, volunteer, advocacy, and community-based service opportunities requiring state-mandated domestic violence or sexual assault advocacy training hours. Successful completion of the trainings does not, by itself, confer Domestic Violence Counselor or Sexual Assault Counselor status under California law. Individuals seeking counselor privilege protections or formal designation must be affiliated as employees or volunteers with a qualifying domestic violence or sexual assault organization in accordance with California Evidence Code requirements.

These programs are part of Healing To You’s commitment to expanding the number of trauma-informed professionals equipped to support survivors and underserved communities across California.

Healing To You is currently developing a pilot Mobile Sexual Assault Response Team (mSART) program designed to expand access to survivor-centered forensic and medical services for adolescents and adults impacted by sexual assault and interpersonal violence in Los Angeles.

In partnership with East Los Angeles Women’s Center, YWCA Greater Los Angeles, and Peace Over Violence, Healing To You mobile clinics will be deployed directly to partner rape crisis center locations to provide forensic medical exams, medical follow-up care, long-term mental health support, and care coordination in a safer, community-based environment.

Partner rape crisis centers will provide survivor advocacy and emotional support during and after the forensic exam process. This developing model is designed to help expand access to care for survivors who may not feel safe or comfortable accessing traditional hospital or law enforcement systems, including individuals who choose not to report to law enforcement.

Our Story

The roots of this organization are firmly planted in the story of my O'Bachan ("grandmother" in Japanese).  Yoshiko was a young woman living in post war occupied Japan, when a good-looking soldier from America began visiting her family home to converse with her father who spoke English.   Her family was well educated, and her brothers and sisters were doctors, lawyers, classical musicians, and authors.  Yoshiko, however, was drawn to Western ways and fell in love with this 18 year old soldier.  They married and had two children in Japan, then moved to the US, where their third child was born and the abuse began.  He, unknown to her, could easily become a violent drunk who knew no bounds for his torment.

She entered this country during a time of heightened anti-Asian sentiment, without any support into a largely unwelcoming community. She tried to leave him many times, but with little money of her own, and no supportive services or family here to help, she went back to him. When she finally did leave him, he showed up to her tiny apartment with a gun and held a knife to her throat, in front of the children.  Always quick thinking, she talked him into letting her make him a meal, and when he passed out she called the police. He was arrested but eventually skipped bail, never to be heard from again.

She left on her own with three small children in 1960.  They were young, but not so young that they avoided the exposure to abuse and violence he showered on the family daily.  Her hope was to remove them from trauma and keep them safe. The lives of all of her children were forever changed and damaged from their father's violence in the home.  During their childhoods they suffered acculturation issues, translation challenges, and difficulties accessing systems of support.  Everyday life was extremely difficult for all of them, as they struggled with the emotions and memories of what they’ve endured. Access to mental health was minimal but the stigma of having emotional and substance abuse issues due to trauma was huge.

I am proud to dedicate this organization to my O’Bachan in an effort to stop generational trauma and bring the necessary supportive services to survivors of domestic violence. I hope to bring resources to those who cannot otherwise access them, and remove transportation barriers as we provide mobile medical and mental health services to those who need them to heal.

My O'Bachan and her three children would have benefited greatly from this service, and I hope you will too.
